Why rural roads are more dangerous

On Behalf of | Jun 15, 2020 | Blog, Car Accidents

If there is a perception that rural roads in Florida are much more dangerous than highways like I-75 and I-95, this is because it is actually correct. There are a number of factors that make these roadways more likely to see an accident with a serious injury.

The isolation of these roads is the primary factor for the danger. First, many drivers will operate their vehicles at reckless speeds, believing that other drivers and police are not present in the vicinity. Second, some motorists simply do not know where they are when driving on rural roads. As a result, they may either be disoriented or unaware of the hazards on the road. These dangers can also include animals on the roadway. Drivers to stay alert at all times on rural roads, and many drivers do not focus on the roadway because they are distracted.

The isolation also adds additional dangers. If someone is involved in an accident on these roads, it may take longer for medical help to arrive on the scene. In addition, the journey to a hospital is not always easy. EMT care in the immediate wake of an accident can mean the difference between life and death. Accordingly, drivers should exercise great care when driving on rural roads and drive defensively at all times.

If someone has been involved in an accident on a rural road where there has been an injury, they may be entitled to financial compensation. He or she should seek out a car accidents attorney to file a claim with the insurance company that could lead to a personal injury settlement. If the insurance company will not make a reasonable offer, the attorney may take the case to court on behalf of their client and file a lawsuit.
